Ms. Kerner is presently teaching general music for grades K-4 at the Burrell Elementary and grades 1-4 at the Igo Elementary. She has been teaching in the Foxborough Public Schools for 16 years. Previously she taught at the Middle School level in Falmouth directing concert band and teaching guitar and piano classes. Prior to teaching in the Public Schools she taught afterschool lessons in several school districts as a private instructor on the saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon and beginning percussion. She initiated the first program to include music in a local Catholic School which continues to offer music to its students today.

Ms. Kerner obtained her Bachelors in classical saxophone at the New England Conservatory of Music. There she studied with Joe Allard also of the Julliard School of Music. She also obtained her Masters in Music Education from the New England Conservatory of Music.

Ms. Kerner fell in love with music at a young age while playing under Frank Battisti at the South Shore Conservatory of Music and with the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble.

After college she studied with Jerry Bergonzi, Mike Monoghan and Don Bravo. Over the years she has played with several Wind Ensembles and Big Bands. More recently she occasionally plays in small jazz and top 40s combos.

She is certified in Orff Schulwerk Levels I, II and III.

Presently Ms. Kerner enjoys writing many of her lessons based mostly on the Orff Schulwerk and Kodaly Music Education philosophies.
